Project Overview
Title: Art in the Park
Category: Community Event
Date: January 2025 (with an ongoing vision for future grant-funded iterations)
My Role: Grant Recipient, Event Organizer, and Lead Program Director
Funded by the City of Austin Nexus Grant, Art in the Park was a fully inclusive, accessible community festival designed to remove barriers to creative expression. Hosted at Skyline Park in Southeast Austin, the free event offered engagement in both Spanish and English, inviting neighbors of all backgrounds to experiment with diverse artistic tools.
Participants were able to explore a wide range of hands-on activities. This included the scientific curiosity of solar printing, the delicate craft of bookmaking, and high-energy, immersive experiences like water paints, paint bombs, and graffiti style spray painting. The event successfully fostered deep local connection and gave residents the opportunity to try specialized artistic techniques for the very first time.
